Hip Replacements

Hip replacement surgery involves removal of the femoral head “the ball” and reaming of the cartilage from “the socket” and replacement of the “ball and socket” joint with an implant made of cobalt chrome metal stem and ball, and a metal backed cup and highly cross-linked polyethylene, a wear-resistant hard plastic. Before considering surgical management, X-rays and an evaluation are performed followed by a trial of non-surgical management as outlined before considering hip replacement surgery.

Hip replacement surgery is reserved for severe pain and disability with failed non-surgical management associated with severe arthritis of the hip on X-ray or imaging, or avascular necrosis (osteonecrosis) of the bone with collapse. Surgery is often a last resort and is an elective procedure that is performed once the patient is considered to be optimized from a medical, cardiac, and nutritional standpoint, with controlled modifiable risk factors such as smoking or nicotine use, diabetes management etc. to reduce the risk of complications and improve outcomes.

Dr. Deheshi is an experienced and highly regarded orthopedic surgeon who has performed over 1,000 hip and knee replacements. His minimally invasive approach to hip replacement surgery and anatomic repair of soft tissues and muscles is associated with quicker recovery and return to normal function, improved long-term outcomes with lower risk of complications.

Knee Replacements

Knee replacement surgery involves removal of the worn-out cartilage and a few millimeters of underlying bone from the femur, tibia and patella and replacement with an implant made of cobalt chrome and highly cross-linked Polyethylene, a wear-resistant hard plastic. Before considering surgical management, X-rays and an evaluation are performed followed by a trial of non-surgical management as outlined before considering knee replacement surgery.

Dr. Deheshi and his entire staff have been a Godsend to our family! My Father had to have an amputation that we never saw coming, and a total knee replacement on his other leg.... They took care of him! At 78, he has recovered perfectly from both and is starting to walk again with a prosthesis. I do not believe we would have had the same outcome with any other Surgeon and Staff! I recommend them to EVERYONE!
